Where I've Worked

Team Lead @ Endpoint Lifecycle

Indiana University
Indianapolis, IN
July 2020 - Present

Mid-pandemic, I took on a leadership role with my current team. Many aspects of my job have evolved since then, continually keeping me on my toes. Recently, my team was merged with another to create a new team altogether, focusing on condensing computer options offered to fellow employees and providing a unified build experience.

With ever-changing goals, this position has taught me how to roll with the punches, as well as when to speak up about concerns.

Client Support Technology Coordinator @ TechSelect

Indiana University
Indianapolis, IN
Jan 2018 - July 2020

In 2018 I returned to a new position with HELPnet, my first office with IU. Shortly after, we rebranded to TechSelect. While there, I revamped our purchasing workflows, selected hardware standards, and provided advanced technical support to our field technicians.

I was still in the role when the pandemic began, and due to staff changes, I stepped up to help coordinate the purchasing work across the Indianapolis and Bloomington campuses.

Client Support Technician @ Department of Medicine

Indiana University
Indianapolis, IN
Jan 2012 - Jan 2018

At the Dept. of Medicine, a division of the IU School of Medicine, I provided support to faculty and staff, in both clinical and research roles at the school.

In addition to the daily break-fix work, I also purchased hardware and software as needed.

During my time with the Dept. of Medicine, I worked on a few projects, such as coordinating and executing temporary office moves for construction and securing older Windows XP systems.

Client Support Technician @ HELPnet Technology Services

Indiana University
Indianapolis, IN
Sept 2010 - Jan 2012

My first end-user desktop support role was with HELPnet at Indiana University. Here, I provided in-person and remote assistance to academic faculty and staff, backed up and rebuilt computers, and dug into the University's IT environment.

I will forever be thankful for this job, as it got my foot in the door and taught me many of the foundational skills I know today.

AT&T U-VERSE Member Care Agent

Convergys
Erlanger, KY
June 2009 - Aug 2010

For a short time, I worked at a call center. Within the year I was there, I moved from taking calls to assisting with training new hires and providing support to fellow agents on the floor.

This position taught me how to 'paint a picture with words' since the support we provided was primarily verbal. Learning to describe things in easily accessible ways is a skill that has continued to help me, regardless of my task at hand.

Team Member

KFC / A&W
Harrison, OH
June 2007 - Aug 2010

The local KFC/A&W combo restaurant was where I had my first job. I learned the basics of the service industry and what teamwork in a work environment, compared to school projects, looked like.

The experiences I had working at KFC would become the foundations for my career. I will forever be thankful for the tools and skills I learned here.

Side Gigs

Barista / Barista Trainer

Starbucks
Indianapolis, IN
July 2019 - March 2021

As a barista, I took orders via drive-thru and in person, as well as prepared the food and drinks ordered. I also assisted with other store needs such as putting away stock, cleaning, counting tips, and more.

Later, I became a barista trainer, guiding new employees in their new roles.

Project Deployment Specialist (Contract)

Insight Global
Cincinnati, OH
March 2009
- March 2009

As a contractor for one weekend, I assisted in a project to update new computers at several PNC Bank locations around Cincinnati.

I decommissioned existing PCs, set up and tested the new workstations, and ensured that network connections, printer installs, and software were all correctly configured.

Projects & Leadership

Throughout my various jobs, I have had some opportunities to work on projects, as well as develop

leadership skills and experience. Notable examples include:

I volunteered to be a trainer at Convergys. After showing an aptitude for helping others learn, I stepped up to assist in training new hires.

At HELPnet, we had a project to move multiple clients on the IU Bloomington campus from old buildings into a central location. To prepare for their move, I worked on arranging new static IP address assignments for those users who needed them. This involved collecting current user information and needs, their new locations and needs, and later teaching fellow techs how to set static IP addresses.

While with the Department of Medicine, we often would need to assist our clients with office relocations. One particular time was due to windows being replaced throughout a building. I coordinated the shuffling of people and their equipment into temporary locations while their offices had windows installed. When those offices were complete, we'd move folks back and then repeat the process for the next batch.

I was with TechSelect when the COVID-19 pandemic began. As the pandemic began to take hold in early 2020, the position of team lead for our inventory team opened. Unfortunately, a hiring freeze made it impossible to fill the position on an official basis. I volunteered to at least start a meeting so that the team members of both the Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses could coordinate our work. This eventually led to me being the interim lead and later, officially taking on the job.

Since taking on my most recent role, my inventory team merged with a similar team from another department, becoming what is now known as Endpoint Lifecycle. My title has remained the same but I have taken on managing additional staff and new duties. Lately, I have been working on team documentation, participating in feedback discussions about changes in our ServiceNow environment, and other tasks as requested.
